This two-day workshop immerses educators in the Building Thinking Classrooms framework through purposeful experience, reflection, and application. The learning is facilitated by official Building Thinking Classrooms trainer Dr. Kimberly Rimbey, a nationally recognized mathematics educator with extensive classroom and leadership experience.

Day 1 centers on experiencing a Thinking Classroom from the learner’s perspective. Educators work in visibly random groups at vertically non-permanent surfaces on non-curricular tasks and reflect on the BTC practices they experience. Participants then observe a complete BTC lesson using a curricular task, examining the lesson from launch through consolidation, including meaningful notes and Check-Your-Understanding questions.

Day 2 deepens understanding of all fourteen BTC practices through continued work with curricular and non-curricular tasks. Emphasis is placed on the nuances of task launch, facilitation, and consolidation, with focused attention on meaningful notes and Check-Your-Understanding questions. Time is devoted to reflection and connecting the practices to participants’ own classrooms.

Who This Is For
Designed for educators at any stage of their BTC journey, this workshop emphasizes practical implementation and building confidence in bringing a Thinking Classroom to life.
