Mentoring Essentials 2025-26

 

Audience: Mentors nominated by district or teachers with an interest in
expanding best practices and the profession of teaching through professional
development and coaching.

Mentoring Essentials serves as foundational mentor training for beginning-teacher mentors as defined in Wis. Administrative Code sec. PI 34.  Wisconsin teacher mentors are licensed educators who are trained to provide support and assistance to beginning teachers. This training provides foundational qualifications to ensure mentors have the understanding, skills and abilities to provide support.

Mentoring Essentials outcomes:
Explain the role of mentor and elements of a successful mentoring relationship.
Explain how quality mentoring and induction supports beginning teacher development and retention.
Assess beginning teacher needs and plan for timely support.
Identify key mentor supports related to the Educator Effectiveness system.
